We have countless opportunities to meet new people, uncover mutual interests, and to expand our circle. Yet, the pressure to do more in less time presumably inhibits our ability to do so. We are myopic - only allocating time to those and things which move us closer to our immediate goal.

Is this not the advice of mentors? Spend time in doing what matters most. While shared in good faith, this counsel ignores people's intellectual and social growth. Only when we realize it is "through others we become ourselves" will we fulfill our purpose and realize immutable joy.
